Kirsten's Danish Bakery was a vision of Kirsten's in 1989. Upon moving to the Chicago area from Los Angeles, Kirsten wanted to do something to keep her growing family in touch with the rich Danish heritage she grew up with. Kirsten, not a baker by trade, did know good bakery products from her many trips to Denmark and from her uncle who owned and operated a bakery in Odense, Denmark.
Kirsten's Danish Bakery is recommended by various Scandinavian organizations as having some of the finest authentic Danish bakery products in the country. Kirsten's has also evolved into one of the best full-line bakeries in the Chicago area with a customer base throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

After placing ads in Danish newspapers, Kirsten traveled to Denmark and returned with an experienced Danish Baker to start her new business. Rune is still with us fifteen years later. 
Ysidro joined Kirsten's over ten years ago and produces many popular bakery products, including our delicious cakes. 
Kirsten's Danish Bakery is also know for delicious cakes and superior cake decorating. Chris Andrews has placed third in both the 2002 and 2003 Chicago Area Retail Bakers Association (CARBA) Annual Cake Decorating Contest. You can see some of her and Kirsten's work throughout this web site. Wedding cakes can also be viewed in these pages. Kirsten takes great pride in making your wedding cake just as you envision it for that special day.
